Coroner releases details after fatal Lackawanna County crash

FELL TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Lackawanna County Coroner confirmed one person died after a Crash in Fell Township on Tuesday.

Officials say around 7:45 a.m., officials say crews from Carbondale City, Carbondale Township, Greenfield, and the Dunmore Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) were called to the intersection of Fallbrook Street and Crystal Lake Road in Fell Township for a reported crash.

Lackawanna County Coroner Timothy Rowland confirmed with 28/22 News that 44-year-old Maryanne Penny from Carbondale was killed in the two-car crash.

Debate to ban cellphones in schools

Officials say Penny was in the passenger side of the SUV when she was hit head-on by another car.

Chief Deputy Coroner Jess Van Deusen says Penny died at the scene and the Carbondale Police Department and PSP are investigating the incident.
