Pittston Twp. shooting suspect pleads guilty to charges

PITTSTON TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man who was charged with shooting a woman in the back two times at a Luzerne County shopping plaza in 2022 has pleaded guilty.

Christopher Carmona from Manhattan, New York, pled guilty Wednesday to criminal attempt-criminal homicide, for his admitted role in a 2022 shooting in Pittston Township.

On June 2, 2022, state police responded to the area of Envy Nails salon in Pittston Township around 4:00 p.m. for reports of a woman who had been shot.

Police say the victim was walking back to her car when she noticed a man, later identified as Carmona, standing by her vehicle. She said they exchanged words and Carmona then shot her in the back twice and fled the scene, according to court paperwork.

Carmona faces 20 to 40 years in a state correctional facility. All other charges were withdrawn and Carmona was ordered to have no contact with the victims.
