Two arrested in East Stroudsburg motel drug investigation

EAST STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two people have been arrested after an undercover investigation resulted in a motel drug operation being shut down.

According to the Stroud Area Regional Police Department, on August 27 around 3:00 p.m., Sean Johnson, 50, and Cathi Jones, 52, were captured in Alabama after a warrant was issued for their arrest in Monroe County.

Between May and June of 2023, Monroe County detectives say they, along with the FBI, executed multiple controlled drug buys from Johnson and Jones at the Super 8 Motel on Greentree Drive in East Stroudsburg.

Police say during the operation, various quantities of fentanyl were bought from Johnson and Jones. A search warrant was served on the motel room and as a result, quantities of various drugs, paraphernalia, cell phones, and guns were seized.

After searching the phones, police say evidence showed that the purchasing and selling illegal drugs was performed at the motel.
