As stated in the release, Smith fled the house and barricaded himself at a different residence on East Elm Street. Police say they confronted Smith outside the home where he was shot with bean bag rounds before retreating back inside.
A standoff took place but eventually ended after police said they used "special tools and tactics" to get Smith to surrender.
Smith was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
