SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two children are injured after a fireworks mishap at La Festa Italiana.
One of the children appeared to be a toddler, the other a young teenager.
The fireworks were launched from the top of the parking garage at Linden Street and North Washington Avenue when the wind unexpectedly shifted, blowing sparks into the crowd and hitting two children.
This led the fire and police departments to immediately stop the show.

Both children were taken to a medical tent on-site for treatment of what appeared to be minor burn injuries from wind-swept embers, neither went to the hospital.
Though the injuries were minor, the incident is pushing the La Festa committee to try out different forms of a display show.
"Even this year we were talking about different ways to really create a terrific technology, illuminating spectacular show for the people, there's so much different technology today you know, using lights, drones, things like that so we were looking into that actually this year and obviously it's going to be what we're going to try to accomplish next year," said La Festa Italiana President Chris Dimattio.
Monday was the last day of La Festa, all festivities and vendors are open until 8:00 p.m.
