LEHIGHTON, CARBON COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Ten drivers have been arrested during DUI checkpoints set throughout Labor Day weekend in Carbon County.
Traffic enforcement including sobriety checkpoints and roving patrols were conducted as part of a statewide crackdown on impaired driving.
According to the Lehighton Borough Police Department, from August 23, 8:00 p.m. to August 24, 2:00 a.m. officers pulled over 22 vehicles, and one driver, suspected of driving under the influence, was arrested.

Then on August 31, 10:00 p.m. to September 1, 3:00 a.m., police stopped over 200 vehicles. Six drivers were arrested for suspicion of driving while impaired, three arrests were made for drug violations, and one wanted person was arrested, officers reported.
A total of six traffic citations and 32 warnings were issued or filed.
Chief Troy Abelovsky stated formal charges are pending the results of the blood analysis for each driver.
