SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — As Lackawanna County struggles to get its finances in order, the city of Scranton took a major step Tuesday into solidifying its 2025 Capital Budget.
On Tuesday night, council members approved the introduction of the city's budget.
Council members say it's the best budget the city has seen in years with a clear and transparent layout that shows exactly where money is going, why, and for how long.
New resource aims to help student attendance, involvement
The set-up of the budget includes a boost in the city's credit ratings and over $600,000 earned in interest from taxpayer dollars.
Residents will get a chance to sound off on the budget at a public hearing on September 24.
There was no mention of if taxes will be raised for Scranton residents.
