Local lawmakers hold debate watch parties

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — All eyes were on the debate as local lawmakers for each respective party held watch parties.

Dozens of local democrats gathered at Voodoo Brewing in Scranton to watch Vice President Kamala Harris talk about key topics, including women's reproductive rights.

Meanwhile, dozens of Republicans gathered at the party's office in Kingston to watch former president Donald Trump talk about key points, like the economy.

Political science professor weighs in after Presidential debate

"I wanna talk about issues and I'd like to hear Kamala Harris answer for not what she's going to do when she is the actual president, what she's doing as the actual vice president. Are we talking about an economy that works? Are we talking about communities that are safe? And are we talking about a border that is secure because border security is national security? So those fundamental issues are really important to me and I hope both candidates have the chance to discuss them tonight," said Republican Candidate for the 8th Congressional District Rob Bresnahan.

"What I hope to see is what I know we're gonna see, what we're already seeing on TV is a very stark contrast, a clear choice, for November. That you know, our county, our communities. Our country deserves a principled leader. We deserve a plan. We deserve the truth and that's what I know we'll hear from Kamala Harris," said PA 112th District Representative Kyle Mullins (D.)
