MIDDLE SMITHFIELD TWP., MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Monroe County homicide suspect remains hospitalized and in police custody, after he was shot at eight times outside a nightclub in Utah, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
State police say on August 10, around 12:55 a.m., the Salt Lake Police Department was called for a report of multiple gunshots fired outside of a nightclub in the area of Exchange Place and State Street in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Arrest made in Dunmore Elementary Center death investigation
Officers said they found a man, later identified as Matthew Herberto Morales, with eight gunshot wounds that he sustained during the nightclub shooting. Morales was in critical condition when authorities took him to the hospital, causing him to undergo surgery.
PSP reported Morales is a suspect in a Smithfield Township shooting where he allegedly shot and killed someone outside of a bar.
State police say Morales remains hospitalized and in the custody of the United States Marshals Service, pending his extradition to Pennsylvania.
