Chief Yodsnukis said the inside and outside of the building was severely damaged and several tankers were called in for water supply.
Battling the fire was a challenge due to the flammable materials like waste in the building, Chief Yodsnukis told 28/22 News.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to Chief Yodsnukis.
28/22 News Reporter Gianna Galli spoke with the owner of the transfer station, Joe Valenti, who says he was working at the time of the fire and that 25 employees work there.
Valenti tells 28/22 News he hopes to be back up and running in a day or so.
