SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — It was quite a community outpouring Sunday for a Scranton firefighter who is battling a devastating disease.
Montage Mountain Resort was the scene of a fundraiser called Raise Some Hell for Hoppy.
Hundreds turned out to support Scranton Fire Department Lieutenant Kelly Hopkins.
He is battling stage four cancer of the esophagus.

The fundraiser brought together family, friends, and firefighters who came through the ranks and worked with Hopkins during his almost four-decade firefighting career.
"We can be here to support him and as a team get through this with him and just keep him fighting the good fight," said Scranton Fire Department Assistant Chief Jeff White.
"He is a fine, distinguished gentleman and would do anything for anyone. So, we're all sorry that he has this sickness and with the help of God everything will work out for him," said Scranton Fire Department Former Chief Tom Davis.
A friend surprised Hopkins with a bell from an old fire truck to help lift his spirits and show support.
