LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Lackawanna County Prison Board took a major step toward resolving a long-standing issue regarding an inmate's access to books.
In a unanimous vote, the board approved the use of Overdrive. It's a digital product that provides all inmates with access to reading material by more than 5,000 publishers at no cost to the inmate.
Police identify man killed by heavy equipment at paving company
The one-year contract will cost $21,000. According to the Lackawanna Prison Warden, money for the product will come from the prison's Canteen account.
