I-80 rollover crash kills driver

DENNISON TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police report a driver was killed after crashing and overturning his car on Interstate 80 in Luzerne County.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, on September 12 around 5:40 a.m., a crash occurred on I-80 West in Dennison Township.

Police said a car driven by Donald Hooper, 67, of Shamokin, left the roadway for unknown reasons, hit a guide rail, and crossed over both westbound lanes.

The car continued traveling, hitting another guide rail on the right shoulder causing it to overturn, state police stated.

Troopers reported that they found Hooper inside the car and he was pronounced dead on the scene.
