Former president of Wilkes-Barre nonprofit charged with stealing from organization

KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police have charged the former president of a Wilkes-Barre nonprofit for allegedly stealing from the organization.

According to the Kingston Police Department, 35-year-old William Corcoran Jr. from Mountain Top has been charged with theft after taking money from Wilkes-Barre Power Inc.

Former police chief found guilty of indecent assault

Police say Corcoran made unauthorized transactions of over $2,000 between May 2019 and April 2024 from the bank account of Wilkes-Barre Power, Inc. Corcoran admitted to investigators that he had made numerous unauthorized transactions.

Corcoran stepped down as president of the non-profit group in 2023, as stated in the affidavit.

He was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
