WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Several new security measures have been announced to make sure things stay safe and fair on Election Day.
The changes are in Luzerne County which will be one of the most watched polling spots in the nation.
On Monday, Luzerne County Manager Romilda Crocamo announced some new enhanced security measures that will be in place on November 5.
"I want people to know that we will have safe polling places," Crocamo stated.
Through the help of state and federal advisement, Luzerne County is implementing enhanced security measures on Election Day.
Those initiatives include:
Live streaming real-time camera recording where ballots are stored
Panic button cellphone software and radios for poll workers and judges from County Emergency Services
Lanyards and vests for staff, to separate and identify them from visitors
"This is an election that is different from any other election that we're going through," Crocamo added.
Crocamo says the high tensions surrounding this year's election are putting safety and security for voters and staff at top of mind.

Homeland Security even paid a visit to the county's election bureau.
"We're getting updates on a regular basis from the Department of State and from various security and government agencies that are warning election bureaus and election officials of situations that may happen that are potentially violent," Crocamo said.
Crocamo says other security measures are already being enforced, and as we approach election day, those efforts will only continue.
Crocamo is also asking for patience and consideration for poll workers and any other election staff.
