Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant on Sunday is now under scrutiny.

Some accuse The White House of using the tour for political gain.

Letters from the House Oversight and Accountability Committee were sent to the Department of Justice, the Department of Defense, and the White House Counsel on Wednesday.

Committee Chair James Comer, in part, wrote in the letters the following.

"The Committee seeks to determine whether the Biden-Harris Administration attempted to use a foreign leader to benefit Vice President Harris' presidential campaign."

"It's a mixed bag. First thing is US is one of the biggest supporters of Ukraine but at the same time if he came over on US tax dollars and funding and we paid for the flight and stuff like that that's an issue," said Wilkes-Barre resident Damian Smith.

Comer agrees and also claims that Zelenskyy was flown into Pennsylvania on an American-taxpayer-funded flight.

He wants to know which government resources were used and how much they cost taxpayers.

Senator Bob Casey, who attended the tour, posted on social media.

"Attempts to smear his visit to our Commonwealth are an insult and a disgrace."

Casey toured with Zelenskyy on Sunday along with Governor Josh Shapiro, Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti, and Congressman Matt Cartwright.

According to The Hill, no Republicans were invited.

On top of Congress' call for answers, House Speaker Mike Johnson wants Zelenskyy to fire Ukraine's ambassador.

According to the political website The Hill, "The tour was clearly a partisan campaign event designed to help Democrats and is clearly election interference," Johnson wrote in a letter to Zelenskyy."

Congressman Cartwright's office declined to comment on the matter.
