HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are investigating a shooting in Hazleton Tuesday afternoon that sent a man to the hospital.
According to the Hazleton City Police Department, on September 24 around 4:45 p.m., officers were notified by the Raven Gunshot Detection System that shots were fired in the area of Alter Street and 17th Street.
Once on the scene, officers found numerous shell casings along 17th Street, and a parked car nearby had bullet holes.

Officers said they were then notified that a gunshot victim had arrived at the hospital. The victim had a non-life-threatening injury to his index finger and he was released.
This is an ongoing investigation, and police noted more information will become available at a later date.
