Collecting supplies for those impacted by Hurricane Helene

DALLAS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A box truck full of supplies and more will head from northeastern Pennsylvania to Asheville, North Carolina.

Wilkes-Barre-based McCarthy Tire Service and AMP Global Strategies in Shavertown finished collecting donations Saturday for hurricane relief.

They expect to fill up to four more 53-foot trucks with essential supplies after a nearly week-long effort.

Volunteers consider giving up part of their weekend a small sacrifice for so many who are suffering.

"People helping people you know, we're human beings. We should be helping one another," said Kelvin Swanger from Lake Silkworth Area Lions Club.

Our parent company Nexstar is also helping.

We are teaming up with organizations including the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and the United Way to assist victims of Hurricane Helene.
