SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man was arrested after police say he forcefully stole a car in Scranton.
According to the Scranton Police Department, on October 7 around 9:00 p.m., officers were called to the 300 block of West Market Street for a stolen car report.

Once on the scene officers said they learned the suspect, Anthony James Banis, 23, of Scranton, forcefully took a car and fled in it. Police say they later found the stolen car in North Scranton and it had sustained disabling damage.
Banis was arrested and charged with robbery of a motor vehicle-strong arm, theft, and driving while operating privilege is suspended.
