SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY — Former President Donald Trump is aiming to grow support for his candidacy in the keystone state as he will return to NEPA for a rally on October 9.

Traffic warning during former President Trump’s Scranton visit

This is Trump’s second visit to NEPA since being selected as the GOP’s presidential nominee. Two months ago the former President made a stop in Wilkes-Barre Township at the Mohegan Arena where more than 10,000 people attended.

He spoke on a variety of topics including the economy, inflation, and border security.

Supporters from all across the country have been pouring in at the Riverfront Sports Complex since early Wednesday morning.

Ahead of the rally, 28/22 News asked some attendees what they would like to hear the former president talk about.

“I mean we had a good economy, the border was safe when he was president, but I’d like to see something new that he has to give us,” said Harrison Zmigrodski, New Jersey.

“My passion over the past three plus years is going around helping to bring awareness to child trafficking. It’s an epidemic here in our country and around the world actually, and President Trump’s talking about it at all of his rallies,” said Shelly Mullinax, Georgia.

Due to the event Scranton Police issued a traffic advisory and urged residents to avoid the area of Providence Road and Olive Street. Parking is limited and police are asking attendees to be mindful of no parking area.

Doors will be open at noon with the rally taking place at 3 p.m. and 28/22 News has more details on road closures.
