Former President Trump returns to NEPA for rally

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Win Pennsylvania, win the White House: That's what many political analysts are saying about the November election, and on Wednesday, the road to the White House ran through northeastern Pennsylvania.

Former President Trump once again held a rally in Scranton.

Recent polling shows a virtual deadheat between Vice-President Kamala Harris and Former President Donald Trump.

Trump campaign officials tell 28/22 News they are laser-focused on winning Pennsylvania.

Former President Donald Trump received a thunderous welcome at the Riverfront Sports Complex in Scranton Wednesday afternoon.

More than 4,000 people packed the complex to hear the man they say should be the next president.

Trump pounded away at familiar themes and issues of his campaign, taking aim at Harris for problems at the southern border.

"Who can win with high taxes, open borders, allowing murders to come in? You saw that just last week? 13,099 murders allowed to come in. Many of them have murdered more than one person," Trump said.

He once again challenged the vice president's stand on fracking and access to Pennsylvania's large supply of natural gas.

"We have more liquid gold than any country, it's going to be so quick and so easy to do. We have more than Saudi Arabia or more than any country in the world and we are going to take advantage of it," Trump continued.

He urged people to get out to vote in person or by mail.

"As you know, early voting has started, when the polls open we are here, we are finally here. You know we are way up, let's say I want to say let's do it this way, the main thing is to win. Let's say we are one point down. I didn't want to tell you, we are actually up but we are one point down. Everyone get to the polls and get these horrible politicians out of here," Trump added.

People like William Beahm from Hunlock Creek, Luzerne County, say they are worse off today than they were four years ago.

"It's extremely important because everything is a mess right now. Even I can't afford gas right now or anything like that. I could hardly pay bills, it's hard for everybody," Beahm said.

The former President then headed to Reading for another rally on Wednesday.

Trump campaign officials tell 28/22 News they will be spending a lot of time in Pennsylvania, and plan on returning to northeastern Pennsylvania as we head into the home stretch toward Election Day.
