A Little Love: Meet Zaya

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — From her bright smile to her happy disposition, this month's Little Love will instantly put you in a good mood. The one thing that could make her even more joyful is a forever family.

When you meet 14-year-old Zaya, you can instantly describe her in two words.

"She's such a social butterfly," said adoption coordinator and recruiter Cori Schiffert.

Schiffert says she's the kind of girl who can light up a room and bring sunshine on the darkest days.

"She's super social, super outgoing, really one of the most happy, positive people I've ever met," Schiffert added.

Her infectious smile says it all. She loves being around people and doesn't mind having all eyes focused on her.

"She can do arts and crafts, activities. Basically, anything that's accessible to her. She's down to do it. As long as someone is giving her attention, she's having a good time," Schiffert explained.

While Zaya enjoys listening to music and watching movies, she isn't afraid to get out and try new things. She can go anywhere that's accessible to her.

"She goes to amusement parks, and rides that are accessible to her, she likes to go to the zoo. If she could have a forever family willing to involve her in their community and things they have in their area, she'd be open to a lot of new experiences," Schiffert continued.

Zaya is open to just about any kind of family composition as long as the focus can be on her and her needs.

"She does have some medical needs, so a family that's open to learning about those. She's eligible for a lot of nursing support, so they would have people to help with those things, but willing to learn about that," Schiffert explained.

They must also learn to love the color pink.

"Girly Girl! Getting her hair done, picking out outfits, and always wearing pink. She's got a pink mobility device. Very much giving girly girl, for sure," said Schiffert.

This easy-going, sweet girl has a lot of love to give and she's hoping someone is willing to give that same love in return.

"She would love to just have people in her life that are committed to her, willing to spend time with her and do things with her, because she loves being around people," Schiffert stated.
