Two arrested after allegedly trespassing at Scranton high school

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Scranton Police Department says two people were arrested Tuesday night after allegedly trespassing at a Scranton high school.

Police say Jaelah Kamille Royce and Jean Almonte Rosario, both 18 years old, were arrested for criminal trespass that happened at around 12:30 p.m. at West Scranton High School.

Royce and Almonte Rosario were former students of the school. They gained access Tuesday afternoon by blending in with the student population, police say.

When the trespass was discovered, officials explain school safety protocols were activated and the District school security officers and the Scranton Police School Resource Officers were reinforced with Scranton Police Department patrol units.

Officers say the investigation found Royce and Almonte Rosario spent some time in the school and had left before the safety sweeps were finished.

Royce and Almonte Rosario were charged with felony criminal trespass and are awaiting arraignment.
