SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Lackawanna County man is facing multiple charges after police say he raped and indecently assaulted two children, with one incident occurring at the Lackawanna County Government Center.
One of the reports of abuse allegedly took place in the bathroom during a visit with the Lackawanna County Office of Youth and Family Services (OYFS.)
We are not naming or identifying the suspect at this time due to the sensitive nature of this investigation.
Police documents reveal multiple allegations of abuse.
Police began investigating in August and uncovered the most recent instance of abuse took place in the bathroom while the suspect and a child were at the Lackawanna County Government Center for a visit with OYFS.
Court documents note the pair was receiving what are known as "supportive visits." This means the suspect was allowed to take the victim to the bathroom without any supervision.

Court documents indicate the supportive visits ended in January of this year after allegations of abuse arose.
The suspect could then no longer take the victim out of the staff's sight.
Police did not specify when the encounter in the government center took place and 28/22 News made calls to authorities to clarify that information.
28/22 News reached out to Lackawanna County OYFS to ask how this could happen on county property. The Lackawanna County Communications Director says they cannot comment on open criminal investigations.
