Man allegedly creates fraudulent moving company

BLOOMSBURG, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Bloomsburg man is in custody after creating a fraudulent moving business and scamming an individual out of $4,800.

Police say 31-year-old Jess Harker was taken into custody Monday for an arrest warrant in Columbia County.

Court documents state Harker and another man portrayed themselves as a moving company called ABC Moving Services and indicated they would move the furniture for the victim's business.

The affidavit states Harker would request payments through Venmo and PayPal and then tell the victim the payment was declined or rejected.

Harker is being held in Columbia County Prison on $25,000 bail, awaiting a preliminary hearing on October 30 at 10:30 a.m.
