Wilkes-Barre man sentenced after selling fentanyl in NEPA

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — A Wilkes-Barre man has been sentenced after selling fentanyl throughout NEPA and other states.

According to The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, 40-year-old Kevin Jones, aka "Hat," formerly of Wilkes-Barre was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam stated Jones was found guilty of conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute more than 400 grams of fentanyl in June 2024.

U.S. Karam says Jones was one of 15 indicted in February 2023 for distributing fentanyl throughout NEPA and elsewhere.

The release states Jones and his co-conspirators had pills that contained fentanyl via the mail from co-conspirators in Arizona. Jones and others sold the pills in Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, and other locations NEPA as well as other states.

13 co-defendants have pleaded guilty and some are still awaiting sentencing.
