WILKES-BARRE TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A woman was arrested after police say she was under the influence while trying to steal over $1,000 worth of items from Walmart.
According to the Wilkes-Barre Township Police Department, on October 24 around 2:30 p.m., Diana Alai, 40, was caught shoplifting $1,234.65 worth of merchandise from Walmart.
Police say Alai was found under the influence and officers seized suspected crystal meth found inside a pill bottle with her name inside a purse she stole.

The day prior, officers reported that Alai was arrested around 12:34 p.m. when she was suspected of shoplifting, then again after being found under the influence in public outside Big Lots at 4:16 p.m.
Later around 7:39 p.m., Alai was taken to the hospital after she was found under the influence in the Wilkes-Barre Township Commons where police said "she couldn’t even formulate a sentence or stand on her own."
Alai was arraigned and then taken to Luzerne County Correctional Facility on a $5,000 bail.
