Trump sues Bucks County as Election Day nears

BUCKS COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — We are just six days away from the General Election and the Trump campaign on Wednesday said it's suing Bucks County.

It's alleging voters were turned away Tuesday after facing long lines on the last day to apply for mail-in ballot voting.

A lawsuit filed by the Trump campaign Tuesday afternoon has extended Bucks County's on-demand mail-in ballot deadline.

"We are going to fight this thing in court and all we ask of you is to stay in line. Donald Trump needs your vote. Donald Trump needs Pennsylvania and America, needs Pennsylvania," said Chairperson of the Republican National Committee Michael Whatley.

Whatley is talking about the line outside a Bucks County polling place that led to the lawsuit.

Voters were turned away on Tuesday after waiting in line on the last day to apply for mail-in ballot voting.

"We were told there was a long line, a long wait. So they asked us to fill out a form to do a mail-in ballot. But they asked us to come back today between one and five which might not work for everyone," said Bucks County voter Java Koch.

The Trump campaign claims the county turned away voters who were still in line at the 5:00 p.m. deadline Tuesday.

"I feel like there was a lot of chaos going on. It was like everyone was running around. I was trying to ask so many people different questions and they were like go over here, go over here go over here," said voter Jenna Maltese.

Bucks County government posted on Tuesday that a miscommunication led to some voters briefly being turned away but the voters were given the opportunity to submit mail-in ballot applications.

"I'm not blaming the board of elections. I believe that they should've been more prepared. This is a big election," voter Robin Krajeski said.

The Bucks County Board of Elections extended the deadline until the close of business on Friday, November 1.

More than 1,500,000 people have voted early in Pennsylvania, joining more than 56,000,000 who have voted early nationwide.
