Creatures take over Monroe County home on Halloween

EAST STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — For many, Halloween is just a day to watch a scary movie and/or eat some candy. For some, it's weeks or even months of hard work to make the perfect spooky display.

28/22 News has more on one of those spooktacular homes gearing up for trick-or-treaters in Monroe County.

A carnival is open for business at an East Stroudsburg home, but it’s not the kind you are thinking of.

Joseph and George’s property in Wilderness Acres is overrun with all things scary, as they’ve been decorating since August for the perfect Halloween display.

“Seeing the behind-the-scenes of putting this all together is pretty amazing and it’s definitely a good time,” said George Parente, homeowner.

“It’s very time-consuming and just seeing everything all together lit up and making it feel really like Halloween,” explained Joseph Pennino, homeowner.

Pennino has always been a fan of everything Hallow’s Eve since his neighbor growing up would put up terrifying decor of their own.

“Since then, I was like when I’m able to and when I can afford to, I will definitely show out my love for Halloween and I think I’ve definitely achieved that!” said Pennino.

A graveyard with zombies and tombstones is also a spectacle at the home, something that’s catching the eyes of the neighbors.

“Once they’ve seen all the props and how much work and time it takes, we’ve definitely gotten a lot of appreciation for it and people go out of their way to come here and stop by and see what it looks like,” said Parente.

Admiring the months of work that has definitely paid off, they say it’s not just for them.

"Seeing kids come and being really excited and thrilled to see something like this, kinda makes you feel like a kid again,” said Pennino.

The pair says they will be dressing up for the big night and are eager to give out tons of candy to trick-or-treaters.
