Biden makes one last stop to Scranton as Election Day nears

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— President Joe Biden stopped by his old stomping grounds today just three days before the 2024 General Election.

He delivered a short speech in his hometown of Scranton where he was thanked by a small but supportive crowd.

President Joe Biden made the trip back home to Scranton Saturday afternoon as his presidency nears the end.

"Scranton becomes apart of your heart," expressed President Biden.

And another part of his heart came with him, his granddaughter Natalie.

He introduced her before speaking for roughly 10 minutes inside Carpenters Local Union 445 Meeting Hall, a venue he's now visited three times.

Around a hundred people, primarily carpenter union members "Thanked joe" for his support of the unions.

The President spoke on his and Vice President Kamala Harris' efforts in protecting pensions and improving infrastructure.

"Three days until election day. The stakes couldn't be higher, the choice couldn't be clearer and a lot of politicians have trouble with saying the word union, but I'm not one of them," explained President Biden.

Addressing his soon exit, president biden made sure to send a message to supporters here today on what he expects to come after him.

For some supporters that expectation was the same.

"We need a president to stand with labor and Joe Biden did and apparently Harris as well," stated carpenter union member, Eddie Pomykzz.

The President's trip to town began with an arrival to Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport.

"It's bittersweet, bittersweet. Time for him to move on and let somebody else take the course," said carpenter union member, Yulia Penella.

And his short stay ended with a reminder to his home crowd.

"Don't forget where you came from," voiced President Biden.

This is Biden's third time visiting the local union.

The first was for the 2020 election and the second was also during his presidency.
