WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Some local homeless individuals are a little more prepared for the coming winter.
Valor Clinic Foundation held its monthly Stand Down event on Sunday in Wilkes-Barre.
The outreach program gave around 50 homeless people basic necessities, such as clothing, food, and personal care items.
The handouts are either donated or purchased with cash donations.

While some of the individuals being helped are homeless veterans, some of the helpers are vets, themselves.
"We call services therapy, we help struggling vets in a variety of ways get back on their feet, but when there's opportunities for emotionally scarred veterans to help other vets it can be healing and therapeutic," said Valor Clinic Foundation Founder Mark Baylis.
These events are held the first Sunday of every month in Wilkes Barre and are held on different days in Hazleton, Stroudsburg, and the Lehigh Valley.
Valor Clinic's next big fundraiser is the Patriots Ball, which will be held next Saturday night.
