LEHIGH TOWNSHIP, NORTHAMPTON COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Firefighters in Northhampton County are battling a brush fire that is only 28% contained and could potentially spread to surrounding areas.
The fire on Blue Mountain near the Lehigh Water Gap has burned more than 250 acres since it started Friday.
On Sunday crews used a combination of airdrops, and a ground attack, and also set a controlled burn, hoping to box in the wildfire.
On Monday, about 140 workers, with the help of local fire fighting crews and helicopters returned to the scene to put out more of the fire.

"Very nervous, very upsetting. It's like you're on the edge. Hoping the best thing that could happen would be rain or somehow it goes out quick," said Tim Kanas, a Homeowner at thr edge of the forest fire.
"It's currently all in Lehigh Township and some of it has crossed over into Carbon County just in little parts, but that was controlled by the helicopter. So right now what you see behind me is all in Lehigh Township," said Lehigh Township Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Brian Krische.
Officials on scene say their main concern now is the fire spreading to nearby Carbon County.
