Jim Haddock declared winner of 118th district race

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — Democrat Jim Haddock secured a second term while his opponent, 23-year-old McKayla Kathio ran for the first time for Pennsylvania's 118th Legislative District.

Early Wednesday morning, the Associated Press declared Jim Haddock the winner of the Pennsylvania 118th Legislative District race.

Haddock was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 2022 to serve residents in the 118th district that includes parts of Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties.

For 10 years, Haddock served as the prothonotary manager and clerk of courts for Luzerne County.

Haddock, for 25 years before that worked in the banking industry for various banks big and small in Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties.

Meanwhile, newcomer Kathio is a graduate of Scranton Preparatory School and graduated with honors from the University of Scranton.

Kathio also earned a Master of Business Administration with specializations in accounting and marketing and is a doctoral candidate at Marywood University.
