LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — St. Nicks church in Wilkes-Barre is one of Luzerne County's 186 polling places.
There has been a steady stream of voters and that number should increase as we approach the evening hours when many people get out of work.
28/22 News had received e-mails and calls from voters regarding issues at their respective polling places.
The biggest issue so far has been a delay in opening a polling place in Laflin Borough.
Voting was delayed for about 90 minutes this morning at the polling place located at St. Maria Goretti Church in Laflin. There was a personal emergency involving the judge of elections. Voting has been extended to 9:30 tonight for that location.
The Luzerne County Bureau of Elections filed a petition with Luzerne County Court requesting an extension and the judge granted their request.
Luzerne County Manager Romilda Crocamo spoke about Laflin as well as other issues that cropped up at other polling places.
"I can tell you at Laflin, the judge of elections had an emergency and was delayed in getting there and the poll workers don't feel comfortable working at the polls. I have a solicitor right now working on a draft to extend the poll hours for that Laflin polling site. All the other sights had some technical issues we had rovers going out and there were representatives of Dominion who went out and all the issues have been taken care of."
