EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced they ban campfires on state parks and forest lands until further notice.
According to officials, the next 10-day forecast for Pennsylvania predicts little to no precipitation making the current situation of extremely dry conditions worse.
The release states PA has experienced 100 reported wildfires in the past week, with many more unreported.
"Leaf litter, fine twigs, and dried branches are prime fuel sources for a fire that could get out of control – when mixed with our current dry conditions, we have a potential recipe for disaster," said DCNR Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn.

The majority of wildfires in Pennsylvania are caused by human activity leading to the destruction of acres of state and private woodlands each year, officials note.
"I encourage Pennsylvanians to avoid burning on all lands, as it is the best way to protect the people putting their lives in danger to keep our Commonwealth safe from wildfires," stated Dunn.
DCNR said all prescribed burns have been put on pause until further notice, and state parks and forest visitors with overnight reservations are being notified that campfires are not allowed until conditions are improved.
