CARBONDALE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — It is also a weekend to celebrate the 50th anniversary of an alien mystery in Lackawanna County.
Hundreds of people lined Main Street in Carbondale Saturday for the Inaugural Carbondalien Festival.
It marks the 50th anniversary of the urban legend dating back to the 1970s about a UFO crashing into a pond just outside of the city.
Besides more than 30 vendors and live music, the festival featured guest speakers from UFO investigators to big foot experts.

The event also included a live reenactment of the UFO sighting at Russell Park and access to the supposed UFO crash site.
"It's pretty cool to have something so close that's similar to Roswell or any of these other big crash conspiracies. Whatever you want to call them to have something that's pretty close to your backyard is really cool," stated Forest Hawkins
15 local partners including the Lackawanna County Visitors Bureau teamed up to make the festival possible.
