Bob Casey statement on updated Senate count

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU)— The Casey campaign released a statement regarding the ongoing vote count for the Pennsylvania Senate Race on Saturday morning.

The AP has called the race in favor of McCormick meaning they do not think there is a plausible chance that Casey can win the race with the remaining votes left to count.

This does not mean the state race is officially over unless the state certifies the results, or the Casey campaign concedes the election.

The Casey campaign released this statement on Saturday morning:

“Each day, counties across the Commonwealth are confirming there are more ballots that need to be counted. We know there are more than 100,000 ballots left to be counted including tens of thousands of provisional ballots in counties favorable to Senator Casey, and the McCormick campaign has acknowledged these provisional ballots could impact the outcome of the election while pursuing unsuccessful lawsuits to get them thrown out. Pennsylvanians deserve to have their voices heard, and as state officials have made clear, counties across Pennsylvania need more time to tabulate remaining votes.”
spokesperson Maddy McDaniel

This comes after Republican challenger Dave McCormick had his victory speech on Friday claiming victory citing Casey does not have a clear path to victory.

The McCormick campaign also filed a lawsuit on Friday requesting an injunction against the Philadelphia Board of Elections in an attempt to isolate some provisional ballots from being counted.

The Case campaign states that there over 48,060 provisional ballots, 3,800 military ballots, and 2,500 uncounted mail-ballots remaining throughout Philadelphia, Allegheny, Montgomery, Chester, and Bucks County. All of which Casey has won.

McCormick's lead has grown to over 40,000 votes with 99% of the vote in, according to the AP.
