SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The chill in the air Saturday morning did not stop dozens of local runners from hitting the pavement for a good cause!
Saint Francis of Assisi Kitchen in Scranton along with all one charities and Scranton running company hosted the 12th annual run against Hunger 5k.
Nearly 80 runners and walkers took part along the Lackawanna Heritage River Trail in Scranton.

They could choose a 10k, 5k run, or a 2-mile walk. All proceeds benefit the kitchen.
"We had over 1,000 families served in our food pantry. The numbers have gone up. Oc: these fundraisers help tremendously to augment the food and clothing that are donated," stated Rob Williams the executive director at St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen.
Prizes were given afterward to top runners and walkers. The soup kitchen's mobile clothing unit was on hand. There was also hot soup served after the race at no charge.
