Trooper stabbed in head with pen, Pike County man in custody

GREENE TOWNSHIP, PIKE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an alleged assault on a trooper that occurred Saturday morning.

According to a PSP release, a Blooming Grove Patrol Trooper performed a traffic stop on 47-year-old Scott Swisher from Tafton, PA for an equipment violation.

The trooper then discovered Swisher was listed on the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) as a wanted person for charges of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Strangulation, and Terroristic Threats from the Pike County's District Attorney's Office Detective Bureau.

Pennsylvania State Police investigating attempted homicide

Officials say the trooper attempted to take Swisher into custody, but Swisher failed to obey the verbal commands.

Swisher then caused a physical altercation in which he stabbed the trooper multiple times in the head with a pen, according to the release.

Authorities say the trooper suffered minor injuries

The trooper took Swisher into custody and was charged with Aggravated Assault, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of Instrument of Crime among other charges.

Swisher was arraigned on Saturday, November 9 where his bail was denied.

Swisher was then committed to the Pike County Correctional Facility.

The investigation into the alleged assault is ongoing.
