Father, son fight leads to shooting in Larksville

LARKSVILLE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two people were transported after a shooting in Larksville Sunday morning.

According to the Larksville Police Department, Sunday around midnight, officers were dispatched to a home in Second Street for a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, police say they learned two people had been shot, one in the leg and the other in the hand.

The release states the father slapped his son in the face for being disrespectful or loud, which led to a fight with the second son.

The first son had legal possession of a gun, police add.

Officers said an adult female, who is not familiar with guns, went to remove the weapon when she mistakenly touched the trigger, causing the gun to go off.

As stated in the release, the bullet struck the father in his forefinger, went through his palm, and into the left calf of the second son.

Both were taken to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police note when asked by officers who tried to remove the gun from the holster, neither the father nor second son wanted to cooperate with officers.

Officials add this was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.
