WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A demolition in Downtown Wilkes-Barre is making way for new renovations in the city.
A crew took down the historic Engel Building Wednesday morning on South Main and East Northampton Streets.

It was once home to the women's clothing store, Place One at the Hollywood, and the dress and gown shop, Norton's.
The demolition caused some lane closures at the intersection and was done in a matter of hours.
It now clears the way for a mid-rise apartment building with commercial space on the ground floor in the Diamond City.
