SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Some people in Scranton are frustrated with the delay in improving stormwater drainage in their city.
A public meeting was held Thursday for residents to learn more about the project.
The project will include relocating and installing new pipes in different neighborhoods.
Investments for the project are nearly $23,000,000 and about $6,300,000 in the American Rescue Plan Act.

"The rainfall back up over the road and over the curves. Gets into people's yards. And around people's houses. It's really a management of stormwater to prevent flooding of properties and roads," said President of Reilly Associates and City Engineers for Scranton Thomas Reilly.
"I got flooded out about 14 months ago and the flood tore down my garage and flooded my basement. What I keep worrying is every time it rains is it going to flood again?" said Scranton resident Peter Rempe.
The project is out for bid now.
Within the next three months, a contractor must pick it up, and then it is set to start by the spring or summer of 2025.
