Fire Weather Watch issued in eastern Pennsylvania

(WBRE/WYOU) — There is an increased threat for wildfire spread Friday and Saturday due to gusty winds, low relative humidity, and dry fuels.

The National Weather Service has placed a majority of eastern PA under a Fire Weather Watch from Saturday morning through Saturday afternoon. Several counties remain under a burn ban through the end of the month, so do not burn!

When we look at the yearly rainfall almanac, it will show that we aren't too far above or below average since Jan 1. However, most of that rain fell during the first half of the year. By September, the dry and quiet weather pattern started to dominate and has lasted with little to no rainfall.

Even for the month of November so far, we've had two days of measurable rainfall at AVP. Otherwise, it's been very dry. Drought conditions continue to worsen week by week.

Is there any relief on the way? By late-next week, there are indications that a pattern change will occur. This means we could see our next chance for rain by Thursday.
