Parade spreads holiday cheer in the Diamond City

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Elsewhere, the Wilkes-Barre Christmas parade is helping make this season bright.

A good-sized crowd gathered this afternoon on downtown streets and Public Square to take in all that the annual parade has to offer.

Numerous floats, marchers, and music helped fill the seasonal spectacle.

Some parade-goers get so into it, that they even dress up like they were in the parade themselves like a Plymouth woman did.

"We love the parade. We come down every year. As you see, we all dress in Santa suits and we have a great time," says Tracy Pashinski a parade-goer.

"I think it's one of the better parades because of all the floats in it and I wish that they threw more candy at people," added Joseph Ganta a parade-goer.

The Wilkes-Barre Christmas parade just like Scranton's Santa Parade is held the weekend before Thanksgiving and signals the start of the holiday shopping season.
