WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Starting Monday, residents and visitors of downtown Wilkes-Barre can enjoy a parking meter fee suspension for the holiday season.
On Sunday, Mayor George Brown announced the City of Wilkes-Barre will suspend parking meter fees for the holiday season in the downtown Wilkes-Barre business district.
Winter train displays now open through January
From 8:00 a.m. on Monday, November 25 to Monday, January 6, 2025, the fee suspension will be in effect, officials say.

Authorities say the fee suspension will be in place for the following areas:
Union Street on the North
Franklin Street on the West
South Street on the South
Washington Street on the East
Visitors and residents are advised all meter enforcement not in the described area will remain in full effect, officials explained.
The parking meter fee suspension should encourage locals and visitors to shop at stores, dine at downtown restaurants, and enjoy events in the area, according to Mayor Brown.
