PLAINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Veterans and their families are being honored in northeastern Pennsylvania for their service and sacrifices.
Nearly 300 veterans from Luzerne County and some as far away as 100 miles gathered on Sunday at the Woodlands.
The Second Annual District Attorney's Veterans Brunch featured a continental brunch, keynote speakers, and prayer.

The event honors Veterans Day and the memory of 84-year-old army veteran Steve Giza of Kingston who passed away in 2023.
The brunch also shares a vital message.
"It's very important that they know that the people in the people in the community support them, and thank them for their sacrifices, and not just their sacrifices but their whole family makes a sacrifice when they get sent overseas, or fight to protect our country. And I think they need to know that we understand that without them we wouldn't have the freedom that we have today," said Luzerne County District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce.
The district attorney says they plan to continue to hold a veterans brunch yearly and hope to see attendance continue to grow.
