LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— The holiday shopping season is in full swing.
One day after shoppers hit the big stores for Black Friday, today is all about supporting small.
Supporting the little guy is especially important for local communities amid inflation.
28/22 News Reporter Gianna Galli is live tonight in studio with the impact of shopping small this year.
"This is Kirby Park. This is a beautiful black and white of Kirby Park," said Deno Pantelakos of NEPA Nature Photography.
This is a photo captured of a popular park in Kingston from the local photographer Deno Pantelakos.
His work was featured at the Diamond City Partnership's Annual Holiday Market this Small Business Saturday.
"This is our chance to show ourselves off in the community besides Facebook and social media. This is much better," expressed Pantelakos.
"I bake it fresh weekly," stated Laura Carter, Owner of My Sister's Granola.
"Everything at Broken Coconut is [homemade]," commented Vince Giulli of Broken Coconut.
Carter's fresh baked granola, Giuli's all natural sinus relief goose balm, and these Inside-Out cookies were also on display and other perfect personable items small businesses here in NEPA have to offer.
"And a lot of times we have things that are very unique because they come out of our own imagination, and so you aren't going to find something like that at a big store," explained nick Freed of Inside-Out Cookies.
Those there to shop showed support to their neighborhood stores for several reasons, keeping money local and donating it to a good cause.
Carter says some of saturday's profits will go toward supporting animal resources.
"It's more local and life sustaining to them," said shopper, Tasha Shutes.
"These business are so resilient after the pandemic and everything else thrown their way. The best thing we can do is support them," stated Shelby Gushka, Marketing and Event Coordinator for the Diamond City Partnership.
And that small support is largely appreciated.
