STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Stroud Area Regional Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred just after 8:00 p.m. Saturday in Stroudsburg.
According to the Stroud Area Regional Police Department, police received multiple calls for a report of a male shot at the Wawa on West Main Street.
Officials say when officer arrived, they found a 17-year-old boy shot in the neck area.
Authorities say they performed lifesaving operations on the victim until EMS arrived, but he later died at the hospital.
Police say the incident began inside the store as an argument but then turned physical.
Shooting under investigation in Luzerne County
The suspect then pulled out a handgun and fired a single shot before fleeing the scene, police said.
The Monroe County Coroner's Office was called to the Lehigh Valley Hospital emergency room just before 11:00 p.m. where the teen was pronounced dead.
Officials say this was an isolated incident, and that Stroud Area Regional Police Department will be conducting the investigation into the shooting.
The coroner's office will be conducting an autopsy later this week.
