Lane closure planned on Wilkes-Barre Blvd.

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Authorities announced a portion of a Wilkes-Barre road will be closed starting Monday for construction.

Wilkes-Barre City Mayor George Brown announced the right southbound lane of the Wilkes-Barre Boulevard between the North Cross Valley Expressway and the Center City Exit Ramp will be closed.

Officials say the road will be closed Monday, December 2, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every day through the following week.

Weather conditions and/or staffing could impact the road closure scheduling and authorities say to exercise caution when driving near the area.

Construction crews will be able to safely make a permanent access road as part of the Brookside Levee Rehabilitation Project thanks to the road closure, officials said.

A permanent access road will allow for crews for the discharge pipes that service Weir Street Pump Station, authorities explained.
