Seven charged during DUI checkpoint

COURTDALE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police in Luzerne County had a DUI checkpoint set on Thanksgiving Eve that resulted in seven arrests.

On Wednesday, November 27, the Courtdale Police Department held a DUI checkpoint on Courtdale Avenue.

Police say 401 vehicles came through the checkpoint in less than four hours.

Shooting under investigation in Luzerne County

Two drivers were arrested on DUI charges, one suspected of using alcohol, and the second driver was suspected of being under the influence of a controlled substance, officers reported. Police said two more drivers were arrested for suspended/revoked licenses and three people were arrested for drug offenses.

Due to the checkpoint, seven traffic citations were issued, one non-traffic citation and three criminal charges are pending.
